NBC Issues Statement Supporting Matt Lauer
The network says rumors of infidelity are “completely unfounded.”
It’s an unusual step for a network to take, but Matt Lauer must be worth it: NBC’s Today Show issued a statement explicitly denying rumors of the Today Show co-host’s infidelity.
Last week reports circulated that Lauer had moved out of his house after cheating on his wife, Annette. The media rumors also said that Lauer had partied in Vancouver with co-workers while covering the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in February.
Lauer, 52, has called the report “a work of fiction” and said he has not moved out of his house.
In the statement, Today said,”The allegations surrounding Matt Lauer are completely inaccurate and unfounded. These accusations are reckless and harmful to the Lauer family. Equally reckless, irresponsible and inaccurate are the accusations about his ‘Today’ show colleagues. Matt and his wife have spoken out on this on the record and will not be discussing it further.”
The Lauers have been married 12 years and have three children. (UPI)
