New Pics! Benjamin Walker Kicks Ass in ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’
New pics of Benjamin Walker in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter have emerged. Hoorah!
We don’t know about you, Bettys, but we’re super excited for the release of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter this summer. We’ve talked about Abe Lincoln and his vamp fighting skills before—a couple of times, actually—and now we’re even more excited than ever, because look! New pics, courtesy of EW!
Above is star Benjamin Walker as Honest Abe (though Action Abe might be a more accurate moniker). “It’s not a sermon in any way, but it is interesting to look at vampires as the all-encompassing, unspeakable, unknowable evil,” Benjamin told EW. “The evil moves among us, and maybe lives next door. It’s an ideology that we don’t fully understand, but they live by it.”
And here’s Lincoln in his younger years, at that critical moment when he, already aware of the dangers of vampires, starts deciding to do something about the problem. Benjamin went on, “It’s told through the structure of Lincoln’s actual life. You not only see these huge fight scenes and great moments of drama, but you get sort of the greatest hits of Lincoln’s life, from the mysterious death of his mother through the Gettysburg address. You get a portrait of this man, as well as a thriller.”
This is shot is from an early scene in the film, when Lincoln travels back to Louisiana to rescue his friend William Johnson, a freed black man played by The Hurt Locker’s Anthony Mackie, who has been captured by a nasty collection of vamps. It’s a sticky situation, as you can see—that’s Benjamin as Lincoln under the chair, being menaced by vampires played by Rufus Sewell and Erin Wasson.
Pretty badass, right? We can’t wait! Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter hits cinemas on June 22.
