New Reality Show Targets Bad Cooks
Top Chef it’s not.
Does your boyfriend cringe every time you make him a meal? Does he dive for the takeout menus as a precautionary maneuver? Have we got a show for you!
John Besh, an occasional Top Chef judge who has appeared as a Today Show guest chef, takes on the culinary disasters of ordinary cooks in his TLC show From Inedible to Incredible, which premieres tonight.
For the first episode, Besh bravely ventures into the kitchen of Deven Green, whose culinary efforts include hamburgers “infused” with strawberries and cornflakes and veggie dishes served milkshake-style. (Suddenly, we’re not hungry.) Upcoming shows will deal with mind-bending dishes like Cranbrosia and Cinnamon “Funky” Chicken.
“Creating a show for the greater good was something I really believed in,” Besh said in USA Today. “A show molded in the same vein as What Not to Wear is not about the chef; it’s about me opening up doors for people to shop right, to cook right and to cook with heart.”
In the first episode, Besh shows Deven Green how to grill lamb and to make steaks and chopped salads. Her family, overwhelmed by their good luck, has a backyard dinner party.
And there isn’t a cornflakes-infused hamburger in sight. (USA Today)
