Open Sky Curator Chandler Burr Tells Us How to Buy Fragrance
Fragrance expert Chandler Burr explains what to look for when you’re buying perfume.
Open Sky is launching their beauty site today. Inside the site are beauty, skin care and fragrances items—each have been carefully curated for the new site. Chandler Burr, a perfume expert, who for years was the New York Times perfume critic, and is the Museum of Arts and Design Curator of the Department of Olafactory Art, has created a shop on Open Sky where every month, you get an unmarked bottle of a well-known fragrance to try. There are zero hints when you get the scent so that you can try it without any preconceived notions about it. At the end of the month, the fragrance is revealed and you then have the option to buy a larger bottle of it.
Mother’s Day is fast upon us. For years we’ve either bought fragrances mom has all ready worn or we’ve attempted to buy her something new and different. Sometimes those attempts fail.
At yesterday’s Open Sky launch breakfast I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Chandler on what to look for when buying a fragrance for someone else (or you). His tips on what to look for and what to buy was illuminating, to say the least!
