Paris Hilton Goes to India
Paris plans on spreading her fashion empire to India. Plague or trend? Let’s find out!
Watch out, India—Paris Hilton is coming and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Is she coming to save the children? Don’t be silly! According to the Economic Times, next month, Paris will travel to India to launch her line of handbags and accessories at the popular Indian department store Shoppers Stop. A wonderful example of entrepreneurship? Or just plain tacky? We’re not really sure, but we’ll soon find out.
There does seem to be a certain amount of excitement in India surrounding the arrival of Paris’ fashion empire; says retail and consumer products consultancy Third Eyesight Chief Executive Devangshu Dutte, “Paris Hiltons’ personality is likely to be aspirational to a consumer case that is below 30 years.” Furthermore, Accessories are usually “the first category that consumers use to upgrade” to luxury brands, say management consulting firm Technopak Advisors Senior VP Saloni Nangia. Brand names, she goes on to say, are particular draws for people looking to up their luxury status.
It’s a good thing Paris will have something to keep her busy, because TMZ is reporting that her new reality show, The World According to Paris, has already gotten the ax from the Oxygen Network after earning horrifically low ratings. Some things were simply not to be!
