Photo: Jennifer Lawrence’s Reaction to Her 2011 Oscar Nomination Is Adorable
This image has been making the rounds for a few days, but we think it’s worth sharing: Jennifer Lawrence’s reaction to her Oscar nomination for Winter’s Bone. Adorable!
Before The Hunger Games… before X-Men: First Class… before megastardom…. Jennifer Lawrence was just a talented girl trying to make it in an industry that can be grueling, vicious, and quite unforgiving. But with 2010’s sleeper hit Winter’s Bone, Jennifer launched onto all of our radars, and it’s only been onwards and upwards since then. Of all the things Jennifer expected to come from Winter’s Bone, however, an Oscar nomination was not one of them.
This is why this picture taken when the nominations for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards were announced on January 25, 2011 is so great:
This image has been making the Internet rounds for a few days, and I feel it’s worth sharing, because it’s just. So. Cute. The nominations were announced at 5:30am that fateful day, so here we have Jennifer at home in her PJs, hanging out with her family and maybe with her boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult, subsequently and crying and celebrating and yelling and laughing and doing all kinds of adorable things at the moment of the announcement.
I believe this photo appears in the April 12 issue of Rolling Stone featuring a profile of Jennifer entitled “America’s Kick-Ass Sweetheart;” according to Suicide Blonde, the text accompanying the image reads as follows:
“On the morning the Oscar nominations were announced, someone snapped a photo of her and her family just as her name was being read. The look on her face, she said, was ‘like I’m being sent off to jail.’ Zoe Kravitz says she loved teasing her: “‘You’re up against Natalie Portman; you don’t stand a chance!’ and she’d go ‘You’re right! I don’t!’” (Lenny said he did catch her in the library at his house in Paris, though, holding one of his Grammys and giving a practice acceptance speech.)”
One of the things I like the most about Jennifer is how down to earth she is, and this image? Well, if a picture is worth a thousand words, it says everything we need to know about that wonderful quality she has. Also, I love that Lenny Kravitz caught her giving a practice acceptance speech. While this might be seen as arrogance in the wrong person, we know that Jennifer never goes into anything unprepared, and as a very young actress who has been abruptly thrust into the limelight, naturally she’d want to be ready for anything—even if she knew she probably wouldn’t win.
In short: I kind of adore Jennifer Lawrence, and this is why. Don’t you?
