Sparkly, Sheer and Sexy: Rebecca Taylor’s Spring 2012 Fashion Show
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week got a dose of girly fashion with an edge from Rebecca Taylor.
I’ve always been a fan of Rebecca Taylor’s style. Her clothing is always feminine, flirty and demurely sexy. It’s the quiet sexy of a bare shoulder or a flippy skirt. This coming spring it’s sheer, tummy-baring and edgy.
I love the mix of big fat paillettes (large sequins) on crocheted sweaters and vests and the oversized lace trim on silk and eyelet tops. But oh, I was looking at the show thinking where do you pick up color coordinated underpinings? The runway’s the designer’s playground. He or she can show all the artful things that have lived in their heads for months. Sad, prosaic, boring me is thinking, “I love the print, the top, the dress…but do they still make slips?” Or as my mom used to say, “You can catch a cold in your pupick.” EEK!
Acid greens mix with twee floral prints and color blocking will be playing at your local theatre closet for awhile. Invest in solid colors!
In case you didn’t know, Rebecca also makes accessories, including shoes and bags. Her pink and gold structured bag is very Kate Middleton, but big enough to work in real life.
Take a look at her show and think spring!
