Surprise, Facebook! Mark Zuckerberg Got Married Over the Weekend!
Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg surprised everyone by getting married over the weekend—right after the company went public. Congratulations!
Facebook has been in the news a lot lately due to the fact that co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg just took the company public. But just in case that wasn’t enough of a story for you, guess what? Zuckerberg got married over the weekend, too!
Naturally, the world found out via—what else?—Facebook, when the social media mogul changed his relationship status to “married” on Saturday. According to People, he and his longtime girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, exchanged vows at a small ceremony in their backyard in Palo Alto that day. The ceremony was small; less than 100 guests attended, and what’s more, they thought they were coming over for a surprise party to celebrate Priscilla graduation from UC San Francisco’s medical school (she got her degree in pediatrics on May 14). But little did the guests know that they were the ones about to be surprised!
Apparently Mark and Priscilla, who have been together for nine years, had been planning their wedding for more than four months. Us Weekly reports that Mark forwent the tux in favor of a more relaxed suit and tie look; Priscilla, meanwhile, donned a $4,700 embroidered Claire Pettibone dress with matte sequins, ivory cut-outs, and a sheer back. Mark designed Priscilla’s wedding ring, a simple yet gorgeously unconventional ruby sparkler.
For the reception, guests were treated to the delicious fare of two of the couple’s favorite restaurants: Mexican from Palo Alto Sol and sushi from Fuki Sushi. Dessert featured sweets from Burdick Chocolate in the shape of mice—a confection Mark and Priscilla had on their first date together during their Harvard days.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
