Taco Bell Wedding
Could you handle a fast food wedding?
In these tough economic times, you’ve been scrimping on everything from groceries to vacations. But when it comes to your wedding – would you be willing to skip the run to the chapel for a run to the border?
Paul and Caragh Brooks did just that last week, marrying in an orange booth at a Normal, Ill., Taco Bell.
The ceremony was anything but normal, according to the Associated Press – the entire wedding cost about $200, including the bride’s $15 hot pink gown. A freshly ordained (God bless you, Internet) friend of the couple officiated as customers continued to order tacos and nacho supremes.
The restaurant was decorated with streamers, balloons and “Will you mary me?” hot sauce packets. (Just the author’s opinion here, but I would have splurged on “Eternity” burrito wrappers to complete the effect.)
While the Brooks’ nuptials might seem a little nutty, it’s a refreshing response to those vomit-inducing half-million dollar affairs glamorized on TLC and WE networks. (Why doesn’t WE just admit it no longer stands for “Women’s Entertainment,” and go with “Wedding Egofest”?)
Tying the knot at T-Bell seems apropos for this quirky couple, who met online and discovered they already had the same last name. Paul, 30, proposed to Caragh, 21, on New Year’s Eve. And hey, Mr. and Mrs. Brooks, if you both like tacos and dig each other, why not say “forever” in a fast food joint?
Whatever floats your boat. Or rings your bell.
Would you be disappointed with a fast food wedding? Where’s the craziest place you or your friends have gotten married?
