Letters to Juliet

Love. Sex. Humor. Heartbreak. Attractive actors. Idealistic endings. Ah yes, the formula for every girl’s guilty pleasure—chick flicks! The box office was just brimming with them this year, and we can’t say we’re complaining.

With that in mind, here’s a list of ten of our favorites from 2010. It will make you want to grab the Ben and Jerry’s (and maybe a few tissues) and have yourself a girly movie marathon. No need to feel guilty, these films were made for us—they don’t call them ‘chick flicks’ for nothing!

1. Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day

This movie was just as romantic as the February 14th holiday it was named after. We loved the plot’s short interconnecting stories. Plus, it had a cast more star-studded than the Hollywood Walk of Fame. If you dragged your boyfriend to see it, at least Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel probably kept him occupied (even if the storyline didn’t.) And if you were single last V-Day, who cares if a guy didn’t buy you chocolates? This film was a rich dose of eye-candy, starring hunks like Taylor Lautner, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher and Patrick Dempsey. Yum!

2. Burlesque

Burlesque

Were you someone dying to see how Christina Aguilera would fare in her big screen debut? Well, she certainly didn’t disappoint! The singer starred alongside the legendary Cher in one of 2010’s hottest flicks. Burlesque was packed with singing and drop-dead sexy dance numbers. X-tina and Cher both looked like naturals on the stage—probably because they are. We can’t wait until it comes out on DVD. And with a saucy singing duo like that, the soundtrack is also on our wish list.

2. Going the Distance

Going the Distance

Finally! A romcom with a storyline that we can all relate to! Justin Long and Drew Barrymore played a couple struggling to maintain a bi-costal relationship. They were too cute for words and put on a totally believable performance. Maybe because they weren’t entirely acting—the two were in a real, off-screen relationship during filming.
