Golden Globe Award

For the curious, this is what a Golden Globe actually looks like.

Most of the television nominations, by the way, consist of the usual suspects; American Horror Story, Boardwalk Empire, Boss, Game of Thrones, and Homeland fill out the Best Drama category (what, no Dexter?), while Enlightened, Episodes, Glee, Modern Family, and New Girl make up the Best Musical or Comedy list. It’s exciting to note that Downton Abbey, The Hour, and Mildred Pierce all made the list for Best Miniseries or Movie.

Pretty much all of these shows also make up the acting nominations, by the way—Here’s the breakdown:

Boardwalk Empire: Steve Buscemi (Best Actor: Drama) and Kelly Macdonald (Best Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

Boss: Kelsey Grammer (Best Actor: Drama)

Homeland: Damian Lewis (Best Actor: Drama) and Claire Danes (Best Actress: Drama)

Enlightened: Laura Dern (Best Actress: Musical or Comedy)

New Girl: Zooey Deschanel (Best Actress: Musical or Comedy)

The Hour: Romola Garai (Best Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie) and Dominic West (Best Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

Downton Abbey: Elizabeth McGovern (Best Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie), Hugh Bonneville (Best Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie) and Maggie Smith (Best Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

Mildred Pierce: Kate Winslet (Best Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie), Evan Rachel Wood (Best Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie), and Guy Pierce (Best Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

American Horror Story: Jessica Lange (Best Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

Modern Family: Sofia Vergara (Best Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie) and Eric Stonestreet (Best Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

Game of Thrones: Peter Dinklage (Best Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie)

Obviously there are a lot more nominations than that (yes, Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin both made the list for 30 Rock), but those are the ones that are tending to be the repeat nominees. Oh, and Morgan Freeman will be receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. Well deserved, indeed.

Want a complete list of nominees? The Golden Globes website should have the full list up soon; until then, here’s another one courtesy of the Detroit Free Press.

The 69th Golden Globe Awards will be presented on January 15, 2012.
