‘The Artist’s’ Uggie the Dog Wins Big at the Golden Collar Awards!
The results of the 1st Annual Golden Collar Awards are in. Check out the winners here!
Guess what, Bettys? The Golden Collar Awards finally happened! That’s right: All the hardworking canines in Hollywood had their very own awards ceremony for the first time ever. And before you ask: Yes, Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier who totally stole every scene he was in during The Artist, won Best Dog in a Theatrical Film. Hoorah for Uggie!
You may have heard about the to-do surrounding Blackie, the Doberman from Martin Scorsese’s wonderful film Hugo. Blackie, you see, didn’t make the nomination list—so Martin struck back, calling for a write-in campaign to get Blackie on the list. A valiant effort!… Though alas for Blackie, Uggie won out in the end. It’s difficult to resist a dog with so many tricks up his non-existent sleeve. Besides, Uggie, who is ten years old, is set to retire from the film industry; now he can do that knowing that he won top dog before gracefully bowing out. Your time will come, Blackie!
Here’s the full list of winners:
Best Dog in a Theatrical Film: Uggie as The Dog in The Artist
Best Dog in a Foreign Film: Koko as Red Dog in Red Dog
Best Dog in a Television Series: Bridgitte as Stella in Modern Family
Best Dog in a Reality Television Series: It’s a tie! Giggy in the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Hercules in Pit Boss both won!
Best Dog in a Direct-to-DVD Film: Rowdy as Marley in Marley & Me: The Puppy Years
Special Awards: Humanitarian Award, Actress Charlize Theron. Legends Honorary Award, Director Michael Vance.
Congrats to all the winners, nominees, and industrious pups the world over!
