The Littlest Oscar Nominee: Quvenzhane Wallis Talks Fashion + More With ALT
ALT recently interviewed youngest-ever Best Leading Actress Oscar nominee Quevenzhane Wallis—and it’s the CUTEST THING EVER. Video here!
You’ve heard of Quevenzhane Wallis, yes, Bettys? The nine-year-old who bears the honor of being the youngest Best Leading Actress Oscar nominee in history for her work in Beasts of the Southern Wild? Usually we’re skeptical of nine-year-olds with definite and opinionated views on topics such as fashion, but this does not hold true for Quevenzhane. Here’s why!
Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley recently interviewed this tiny little powerhouse for his video feature, “Mondays With Andre”—and the results are delightful. The interview covers everything from Quevenzhane’s favorite musical artists to her fashion icons and from the Oscars to homework (she IS only nine, after all). What’s she wearing to the Oscars? Well, one thing she WON’T be wearing is a floor-length dress. As she told Vogue UK this week, “I might step on it and trip on it and I don’t want to humiliate myself.” Note to self: If I ever find myself at a red carpet event, heed the advice of this extremely wise child.
Check out the interview here:
Adorable, no? Be sure to tune into the Oscars on Sunday, February 24 at 7pm EST/4pm PST on ABC to find out what Quevenzhane and all the other nominees finally decide to wear on the red carpet!
