Canapés and Champagne: The Diet of the Stars

Drink the official champagne of the Golden Globes, just like the nominees! Place a bottle of Moët & Chandon on your dinner table and serve it to guests in golden goblets. Very over-the-top!

You might also offer canapés that reflect the different films up for the Best Picture award. Be sure to incorporate as much gold into your serving utensils and dishes as possible. Aerin Lauder and Kelly Wearstler both have great lines with wonderful products. Some examples of menu items reflecting this year’s nominations are:

Life of Pi - Heirloom tomato pie or chicken pot “pi”

Lincoln – Illinois salted caramel corn

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – Cucumber sandwiches

Moonrise Kingdom – Lobster tarts

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen – Smoked salmon tartare on cucumber rounds

Most of these are pretty easy but oh-so clever. Lobster tarts can be found in the frozen food aisle of any upscale grocer. Delish!

Glam Garb

Guest attire will be one of the easiest ways to add more glamour to the evening. Specify on the invitation what guests should wear: All That Sparkles, King Midas’ Court, A Night at Fort Knox, Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams… anything goes. Use your discretion—just add glitter!

Entertainment

Keep guests engaged and entertained during commercial breaks by playing a variety of modern parlor games that range from the high to the low brow. Some ideas are Bobbing for the Golden Apple and Nominee Bingo. Personally, I think anything with a little betting action always makes things more fun.

Lastly, Bronson adds, “Serve Moet & Chandon Imperial Champagne to your guests upon arrival on a golden tray sprinkled with golden pixie dust and garnished with imperial gilt laurel leaf wreaths. When using Hollywood and Gold as your theme, make sure to go to keep it fun and go a bit overboard!”

Of course, darling. After all, this is Hollywood. And who in their right mind doesn’t love a little champagne with pixie dust?
