Gender row over running champ

The gender of the South African teenager who wowed crowds at the World Athletics Championships on Wednesday with her gold medal-winning 800-meter sprint is now being called into question.

The IAFF has asked South Africa to test the gender of Caster Semenya, after her muscular physique and spectacular performance left some spectators questioning whether she really is female.

Her mother has rebuffed reports, however, insisting: “I know who and what my child is. Caster is all girl, and no one can change that.” (Daily Mail)
