Adidas recently pulled the following little stunt at a photo booth at the Westfield Stratford City shopping center in London, not too far away from the Olympic Village: When they invited a bunch of fans to hop into the booth and show their support for teamGB, little did those fans know that they’d be getting the surprise of a lifetime: An appearance from David Beckham himself. Watch their amazing reactions here!

Though David sadly isn’t playing for Great Britain in this summer’s Olympic Games, he still is—and probably always will be—the poster child for British football. Everyone, regardless as to whether they follow football/soccer/whatever you want to call it, knows who he is, and he’s probably one of the most celebrated players of all time.

But you know what? The real reason we love Becks isn’t because he’s a soccer superstar. It’s not because he’s astonishingly handsome, either. Really, it’s because on top of all that, he is (as you may have guessed from this post’s headline) a delightful human being—and this video demonstrates it to its fullest.

I think my favorite moment is the one at about the 59-second mark, where he’s hugging a kid who is so overwhelmed with the experience that he’s started to cry. There’s something about the way Becks checks in with the kid and makes sure he’s all right before going on to say, “Shall we take some pictures?” that is just. So. Wonderful. It’s moments like this that make me think that he must be an incredible dad. Awwww. Now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Anyway, happy Thursday, Bettys! Don’t forget to tune in for the Olympic Opening Ceremony tomorrow night at 7:30 EST on NBC!
