Lorna Solano – Gal About Town and Editrix of The Fabulous Report
Lorna said: “My father, along with many members of my family have suffered from premature heart disease… Luckily, my mother is healthy, but the thought of this silent killer affecting my sweet mother is really terrifying. I’ve seen first hand how debilitating this disease is and seeing the effects is devastating. So, on National Wear Red Day I plan to sport a red ensemble to support the cause. I love the idea of wearing a bright red pant. I never, ever wear pants. So, I am fairly certain the look will open a line of communication with my friends about heart disease.”

Kristin said: “I think you should celebrate your health every single day and if we’re really celebrating our hearts, let’s wear something that makes them SING. I know mine belts out amazing tunes when it sees anything Lanvin or Christian Louboutin. This look is to salute how fashion can make our healthy hearts beat wildly with excitement and how we have to take care of them so they can feel that way.”

Aly said: “I’ve never been big on Valentine’s Day–I think it exists to make people (couples and singles alike) feel bad about themselves. But I’m all about supporting the other celebration of red–heart disease is a big killer in women, and if we can support fighting it, and looking “killer” ourselves, then that’s something to get heated about.”

April said: “This outfit is a total fantasy (except the nail polish and the Betsey Johnson earrings — those I could actually afford, gosh bless Betsey Johnson!). But unfortunately what isn;’t a fantasy, even though it sounds like one, is the fact the heart disease kills more women every year than any other disease, including cancer. Luckily, though, we hold the key to prevention in our own (prettily polished) hands — eat right, don’t smoke, and kick off your high heels to get some exercise every day! (Even if they are Louboutins!)”

Lucia said: “Odds are, you or someone you know has dealt with heart disease—but too many of these stories simply don’t get told, and so the dangers of heart disease never get the attention they deserve. I celebrate National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about these untold stories and about the women who suffer through them. Because nothing of this magnitude should ever be brushed under the rug.”

PJ said: “Um, okay so I went a little overboard here. But you know what? Life is a miracle: it’s a celebration. When you celebrate, you pamper yourself. While you might not be hitting the red carpet every night (how exhausting!), but you should take care of yourself. Heart disease robs us of our mothers, our sisters, our aunts and our friends. Women spend so much of their lives taking care of other people first. If you honor yourself, take care of yourself first, it doesn’t mean you’re selfish. It means that you really love your family and friends because you want to be around for them for a long, long time. I mean, who else is going to remind them to take an umbrella?”
