White Winter? Warm Up Your Skin With St. Tropez Self-Tanner

It’s time to get your glow on with a St. Tropez tan!

I have never stepped out in a faux tan. Ever. I am about as low-key as a gal can get without looking sloppy. Most mornings, I can barely muster the effort to swipe on mascara and tinted gloss.

So when I walked into the St. Tropez  2012 Trend Event in NYC, I was expecting to nod politely and watch the gaggle of models somehow manage to apply the lotions and sprays with flawless precision. Much to my (pleasant) surprise, it took mere minutes for me to grab an applicator mitt and slather on my first dose of self-tanner.

I couldn’t help but be enamored of the St. Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan For Body ($30, sephora.com). It’s foolproof, even for a tanning newbie like me. Plus, it looks, smells, and feels like your daily moisturizer! But here’s the kicker: every time you massage the lotion onto your skin, you’ll also be building up a gorgeous glow. And the best part is that you’ll never manage to turn an Oompa-Loompa orange.

Right after my first application, I glanced down at my arms and noticed a gorgeous, streak free tint–no, I wasn’t tan per say (after all, this was my first time), but my skin instantly looked and felt healthier.

After gushing over my miracle glow (it was freezing outside and my skin was cracked and drying. Eek!), I moved on to the St. Tropez Skin Illuminator ($22.50, sephora.com), which is meant to instantly give skin a radiant tan. Or, you can mix it into your usual facial moisturizer for a simple shine (kind of like the Cullens from Twilight, sans the fangs). Especially useful for the women out there whose faces have been aching from the bitter cold in recent weeks, treated skin will look healthy and feel silky smooth. As an added bonus, it will also provide instant definition to your facial features.

Oh, and fashionistas, take note: Zac Posen picked up the illuminator for the models at his Spring/Summer 2011 Paris Fashion Week show. And it makes sense: you’ll want to strut around like the world is yours (or at least the beauty industry) with your newfound fierce glow.

Of course, seasoned tanners can opt to go straight up bronze with the St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion ($30, sephora.com). With this beauty bag must-have, you’ll score an immediate, just-got-back-from-the-beach look. The award-winning formula is smooth, rich, and goes on streak free (yes, I took a leap and tried it). Created without harmful parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and triclosan, you’ll enjoy a tan…without wreaking chemical havoc on your precious skin.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your tan happy BFF, you might want to scoop up the St. Tropez Golden Glow Kit ($35, sephora.com). Including a mitt, bronzer, and skin illuminator, this will give her that New Year’s glow she’s been craving while going easy on your wallet.

For a peek at the entire collection of mousses, sprays, shimmer sticks, body butters, and tan removers –yes, this brand really does have everything even the most avid tanner could need –visit the St. Tropez website. And if you’re more of a curious observer, you can check out videos of the products in action here.

If you can’t get enough, look out for a host of brand new products slated to hit shelves in 2012. First up will be the St. Tropez One Night Only ($18) wash-off instant glow. Perfect for an impromptu date night, you can stow this one in your purse for a natural looking tan in minutes. Also keep an eye out for the St. Tropez Perfect Legs Spray ($15) and Tan Gel ($35) to be released in spring 2012.

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m officially a convert to the faux tanning club! Excuse me while I slather some product on…
