You know you’re supposed to take good care of your skin. You tell yourself every now and then, “Today is the day I’m going to start moisturizing, no wait, it’s exfoliating, no, it’s…” The next thing you know, another year has flown by and you still haven’t added SPF to your daily routine.
Since the new year is just a few days away, here’s a handy list of resultions for you to make on behalf of your skin.
#1. “I resolve to stop feeling bad when I look at celebrities in ads because whether it’s from perfect lighting, professional makeup or Photoshop, they don’t look like that in real life either!”
#2. “I will finally throw out all the tubes, bottles and tubs of skin care products that have been languishing in my drawer since the Bush administration. Who knows what type of bacteria’s living in there?!”
#3. “I will make friends with SPF. No one wants to be wrinkly before their time. SPF also protects against certain types of skin cancer and yes, I will use it all year-round. EVEN WHEN IT’S CLOUDY! While I’m at it, I’ll make an appointment with a dermatologist to get my moles checked, because skin cancer is highly treatable if it’s caught in time, and deadly if it’s not.”
#4. “I will be kinder to my feet. I know I should moisturize, exfoliate and generally take care of my poor neglected tootsies all year long.”
#5. “I will make friends with water. I know it’s important to drink eight glasses of water a day. It’s not only good for my skin, but it flushes out toxins from my body and is a healthy diet aid. Bring on the water!”
#6. “I will actually use the face and body moisturizers I buy, day and night. Good moisturizers feed your skin and keep it soft and supple.”
#7. “I will remember that exfoliating doesn’t stop at my neck. Hello feet! And the rest of my body should be gently scrubbed with an exfoliator once a week to get rid of dead skin build-up. It’s nice to let your pores breathe.”
#8. “I will love my face and my skin. Even though I might have blemishes, and someday I’ll have wrinkles, that’s okay, because it’s a natural part of life. I’d rather smile and have laugh lines than look like a wax figure!”
