Zac Posen’s Pre-Fall Collection Will Make You Weep
I almost swooned at the site of Zac Posen’s pre-fall designs!
There’s clothing, and then there’s clothing. When I had the honor to walk through Zac Posen’s pre-fall collection (in his studio!), I really was overcome by the beauty of it. I’m not kidding: as I was surrounded by all of his pre-fall collection, I lost was words (a first for me) and started to cry looking at everything!
Perhaps it was the chance to get up close and personal with the dresses, gowns and separates. To be able to pet the fabrics, check out the construction (my mother was a stylist before I was born, so I was taught to always look and admire fine construction) was an opportunity you can’t pass up.
Posen’s work is art. The type you see in museums. Every line, every stitch, each idea is so thoughtfully carried out that it’s easy to understand why he has a legion of fans. Items hang on racks waiting to caress the figure of the woman who will wear them.
Posen loves and adores women. When you’re up close and personal with one of hhis creations, you can see how he’s laid out his designs so that they cleverly highlight a woman’s body. They play up her fine points and subtly blur the tricky ones.
His pre-fall collection harkens back to Kennedy’s Camelot: classic glamour. To quote Zac Posen himself, “American Royalty takes a trip east – this collection was inspired by 50s American couture, Charles James, and Cristobal Balenciaga.”
Brocade fabrics carry a Chinoiserie motif, there’s a tweed jacket with kimono sleeves, gowns long trains fit for a princess.
The below photos are just a few pieces from his collection. Enjoy!
