Best Dressed at the 83rd Academy Awards
Sandra Bullock, Hilary Swank, Penelope Cruz and — of course — Helen Mirren looked oh-so sexy on the red carpet.
Last night, LA, no, the world shut down to watch the Oscars. Who would win the Oscar race? The Social Network, The King’s Speech, The Fighter or another movie that had “The” in it?
We weren’t sure; we just wanted to watch the red carpet! That’s where the real action was! Like the Golden Globes last year, we saw a ton of red gowns walking a red carpet, which led us to wonder, where did the carpet end and the dress start? Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence and Penelope Cruz glowed in this shade. Color — tangerine, plum, silver and pink — happily overpowered the ubiquitious black gown last night.
Read on for our best dressed picks of the night.
Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) has made an impression on every red carpet she’s been on this season. Sunday, she was first on the red carpet and, as Guiliana Rancic said on E!’s red carpet show, “she raised the bar high.” Sometimes less is more and in this case, less was stunning. Jennifer wore a custom made red gown by Calvin Klein, with Judith Leiber clutch and jewelry by Chopard. Sleek and elegant!
Talk about sleek and elegant! Oscar winner for Best Actress (Black Swan) Natalie Portman wore a beautiful gown by Rodarte, the team who created the dance costumes for her movie. She also wore a stunning ring by Tiffany, matching Jimmy Choo shoes and a wonderful smile. When she won, she thanked her parents for letting her act and her fiance, Benjamin Millepied for giving her the biggest role of her lifetime.
