Fight the end-of-summer slump with a little help from your inner Buddha
-Mary Beth Sammons
“If only there were an extra week of summer to savor the season,” seems to be the going mantra among my circle of friends. Probably because we think, for some unbeknownst reason, that the longer days will somehow give us a chance to catch up on our lives, chill out and not live in the hurry, worry and distraction of the more-structured seasons ahead. Well, now that those lazy, crazy days are numbered and the impending school starts signal the beginning of heavy-duty clock time, we’re scrambling for little moments to hang on to and to savor our summer senses.
So in an effort to squeeze the most out of the present moment, along come these jolly little plastic Buddha Jell-O molds and the idea of spooning up a big serving of jiggling, fruity fun. And, for a few pleasurable moments, you can tap into the inner Buddha in you or the former preschooler who loved to smear a banana Gerber’s mess across her face. These molds come in a colorful set of four (a pricey $75 – but, hey, a girl has to have some fun).
On a more serious note, if you want to manifest your inner Buddha – the person reconnecting with the deepest and best parts of yourself – check out more about Buddhist teachings. So, while you’re slurping up the last carefree days of summer, thanks to your little Buddha jigglers, take time to devour the inner peace you’ll discover in these Buddha teachings – compassion, wisdom and the power to manifest the inner you!
