Celebrities Help Raise Money for Oil-Spill Relief
Larry King is hosting a telethon tonight.
As the Gulf Coast oil-spill disaster enters its third month, talk show host Larry King will host a two-hour telethon on CNN tonight, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT.
The telethon will raise funds for the nonprofit organization The Nature Conservancy, the National Wildlife Federation and the United Way. The groups are working in the Gulf to combat the unprecedented damage done to businesses, wildlife and natural environments following the worst environmental disaster in the nation’s history. After eleven workers were killed in an explosion in April, tens of millions of gallons of oil have flooded into the Gulf of Mexico.
Among the celebrities participating are Justin Bieber, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Seacrest, Alyssa Milano, Lenny Kravitz, Sting and Deepak Chopra.
Last week a group of rock stars, including Lady Gaga, Korn’s Jonathan Davis and Creed, called for a boycott of BP oil and said they won’t be using the company’s fuel in their touring buses.(Christian Science Monitor)
