Runway to Real Way

Colored jeans are popping up in every spring line and range from pricey (Marc Jacobs, $198) to reasonable (American Apparel, $68). They’re fun, springy and a bit punk. To wear this look casually, marry it with soft neutrals such as gray, cream, brown or navy. Harsh neutrals like black and white will only intensify the color. Soft neutrals lessen the impact, making it appropriate for day.
If you are tentative about such harsh colors on the bottom, opt for cobalt blue. They appear like any other pair of blue jeans but with a bit of an edge. Slide on a pair of plain, low canvas sneakers or a neutral ballet flat for a casual look with a kick.
To make colored jeans appropriate for nighttime, exaggerate the color with black. Edge the look up with killer patent pumps and chunky accessories. This look is bold, daring and screams confidence. Warning: Don’t wear colored jeans unless you want to be the center of attention.
