Congrats Nicole and Keith
But Sunday? Really?
-Julie Ryan Evans with Mary Beth Sammons
I’m so happy for Nicole Kidman – she and husband, Keith Urban, welcomed a daughter into the world this week.
Really, no one should ever have to endure watching their ex-husband jump up and down on a couch proclaiming his devotion to his new love; and then be forced to see the world bow to his adorable daughter Suri with now-wife Katie Holmes (who’s incidentally young enough to be his daughter).
So Nicole deserves the best, and it arrived Monday in the form of daughter, Sunday. Yes, that’s right, her name is SUNDAY. And she was born on MONDAY. I don’t get it, and have yet to see any explanation. Was it poor planning, and they expected her to come a day (or a few hours) earlier? Or just a choice made for some yet-to-be known reason. This just in. Apparently she was named after the muse of a 20th Century artist. So mystery solved, but it still would have been a lot easier if she had been born a day earlier.
And it’s not like she’s the lone celeb offspring with an unusual name–there’s Rumer, Apple and a host of others. I wonder if there’s a special star service you hire to come up with strange unique baby names? Or do they just sit around thinking-what’s the last thing anyone would ever name a child? Oh, I know, let’s go with Bo-Ty (son of 50 Cent).
The parents of these next generation Hollywood babies seem to be trying to out rival each other for creativity. For example, Pax, Zahara and Maddox, siblings of Shiloh.
Then we have Ryder, son of Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson; Free, child of Barbara Hershey and David Carradine and perhaps the cake-taker… Kal- el, son of
Nicholas Cage and Alice Kim, named after Superman (his birth name, silly).
In any case, welcome Sunday. Maybe her half-sister’s half-sister Suri will hand down some of that baby couture…
