Prince Charles

When it comes to the British Royals, we hear a lot about William, and Kate, and Harry, and occasionally Beatrice and Eugenie (largely due to their outrageous headwear), mostly because they are all young and hip and the future of a nation and all. But lest we forget the older generations, let’s take a second and give someone else his due: Prince Charles.

You see, in addition to being the heir apparent, William and Harry’s dad has lately been exploring some alternate career paths. During a four-day trip to Toronto to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this week, for example, he tried his hand at deejaying. At an employment skills workshop on Tuesday, DJ Loquenz took the 63-year-old Prince of Wales through the basics of mixing, and by the end of the day, he was scratching and fading records with the best of them:

Well, maybe not with the best of them, but he did manage to get it right on the first try!

Not too long ago, he also gave meteorology a shot. He and his wife, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, visited BBC Scotland’s Pacific Quay headquarters earlier in May; and during their tour of the facility, Charles got to do more than watch. BBC newsreader Sally Magnusson handed over the reins to the prince, who then read Reporting Scotland’s lunchtime weather against the backdrop of a weather map:

And hey, guess what? Once upon a time, Prince Charles even dabbled in breakdancing! Witness this video from the ‘80s in which Charles gets down on the dance floor:

What happens in the ‘80s apparently doesn’t stay in the ‘80s.

So, hey, just in case this whole Prince of Wales thing doesn’t work out, Charles has some alternatives he could turn to. Which do you think he’s best suited to?

Oh, and while we’re at it, here’s wishing the Queen a happy Diamond Jubilee!
