Embrace the Power of a Flower With Ann Jacobson’s All-Natural Skincare!
Ann Jacobson of Power of a Flower dishes on how a hobby grew into a passion, her skincare role model, and more! Meet our fave new skincare maven here!
Ann Jacobson’s skincare line started out as an experiment—and grew into something amazing! After she found how well products she made herself worked on her dry, sensitive skin, she developed a thirst for knowledge, reading up on everything she could about homegrown skincare. A few years later, she founded Power of a Flower, a line of skincare products that partners with nature to support, nurture, and repair the body throughout every single one of its life cycles. How refreshing! But don’t take our word for it—embrace the power of the flower (see what we did there?) right now in BettyConfidential Shop’s exclusive flash sale!
Ann sat down with us to dish about how a hobby grew into a passion, her skincare role model, her best skincare tips, and more. Read all about it here!
BettyConfidential: How did you become a maker of skincare products? Can you tell us a little about the history of Power of a Flower?
Ann Jacobson: A few years ago, I made some body scrubs to give as Christmas gifts. After using them myself, I was amazed at how well they worked. Having very dry and sensitive skin, I have tried so many products on the market, so when I started seeing such benefits from products that I could make myself using all natural ingredients, I became obsessed with finding out more. I think I’ve purchased every “how to” book on making your own skin care products on the market! I also did an immeasurable amount of research via the web on the benefits that flowers, weeds, salts, sugars, clays, grains, and vegetables can bring to your skin.
This past Christmas, my knowledge was much greater in the area of skin care than it was the year I gave out body scrubs as gifts, so I made facial kits and gave them to my friends and family. The response was overwhelming. I received calls and notes from everyone on how much they loved the products! The turning point for me, however, was when I gave one of my kits to my yoga instructor. After a week of trying out my kit, she started telling her classes about how much her skin benefited from my products. The next thing I knew, I had women approaching me before and after yoga class asking me if they could buy this “kit” that I had given the instructor – thus, Power of a Flower was born!
BC: Had you ever dabbled in making body products or in other types of design before creating Power of a Flower?
AJ: One of my biggest passions is photography, which was my creative outlet before the skincare obsession took hold. Speaking of the skincare obsession, though: Since I started making them, I’ve made everything from shampoos, to candles, to all natural cleaning products (for your house, car, dog, and clothes).
BC: What inspires you?
AJ: There is no better feeling than to receive an email or a testimonial from a friend or a stranger that says one of my products has not only changed their skin, but changed their view on how they look at skincare. My mission is to educate, empower and engage as many people as I can that there are alternatives to buying chemically-filled products, so when I receive communication from women thanking me for passing on my message, it recharges me beyond belief!
