If you were given the chance to play an iconic actress, would you take it? Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel did in the upcoming Alfred Hitchcock biopic, Hitchcock!

Based on Stephen Rebello’s book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, Hitchcock centers around the filmmaker’s relationship with his wife, Alma Reville, during the making of his best-known work, 1960’s Psycho. You’ve probably already seen the eerily accurate images of star Anthony Hopkins done up as Hitchcock; now here’s a look at his leading ladies!

In Hitchcock, Psycho’s leading ladies, Janet Leigh and Vera Miles, are played by Scarlett and Jessica respectively. If you’re familiar with the film (and I hope you are—and not just with Gus Van Sant’s totally unnecessary 1998 remake, at that!), you’ll know that Janet Leigh played Marion Crane, a secretary who goes on the run after embezzling money from her employer—only to end up in a very particular shower at the Bates Motel.

Vera Miles played Marion’s sister, Lila, who, along with Marion’s boyfriend Sam and private detective Milton Arbogast, go in search of Marion and the missing money, never dreaming what they’ll find when they, too, wind up in Norman Bates’ company.

So what do you think, Bettys? ScarJo and Jessica are looking pretty darn good, aren’t they? And stylish, to boot—gotta love the ‘60s! According to People, Hitchcock’s director, Sacha Gervasi, said, “When we took that still of Scarlett behind the wheel and put it up against the still of Janet behind the wheel in Psycho, it was eerie. The extent to which Scarlett was able to channel Janet [was] a real surprise. She brought it in such a way that no one really anticpitated.”

There are more than a few similarities between Jessica Biel and Vera Miles as well. Though both actresses are beautiful women, their directors each tried to dim their beauty—and not too successfully: “Hitchcock dressed her up in a wig and did everything he could to make the beautiful Vera Miles look frumpy,” Gervasi continued. “What Hitch tried to do to Vera we tried to do to Jessica, and the results were equally ridiculous. It is not possible to make Jessica Biel dowdy.”

Hitchcock also stars Dam Helen Mirren as Alma Reville, James D’Arcy as Anthony “Norman Bates” Perkins, and (of course) Anthony Hopkins as the man himself. It’s due to hit cinemas on November 23.

Tell us: Do you think Scarlett and Jessica were the right choices for these two classic leading ladies?
