Goodbye to a Legend
Yves Saint Laurent dies at 71
-Julie Ryan Evans
This weekend I was saddened to read that Yves Saint Laurent passed away.
I can’t say my closet is brimming with YSL. Really, the only items I own with those famous initials are a tube of lipstick and some eye shadow; and I may have owned a bottle of his Opium fragrance back in college. But just because his couture creations haven’t yet fit within my budget, that hasn’t stopped me from drooling over admiring his iconic work over the years.
I love this quote from him that so well describes the legacy he leaves:
“For a long time now, I have believed that fashion was not only supposed to make women beautiful, but to reassure them, to give them confidence, to allow them to come to terms with themselves.”
