Helen Mirren Finally Got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
It’s about time that Dame Helen Mirren got a star on the Hollywod Walk of Fame!
I have no idea why it took this long, but guess what? The inimitable Dame Helen Mirren just got her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! It’s about time, no?
According to the L.A. Times, Helen, who won an Oscar for her performance in the 2006 film The Queen, received the 2,488th star on the Walk of Fame on Thursday. Located right in front of the Pig ‘N Whistle restaurant, the actress’ star stands right next to fellow Brit Colin Firth’s. Said Leron Gubler, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and chief exec, “We’ve kind of made this a Brit location.” Love!
“I couldn’t be prouder and more happy that I’m actually going to finally lie next to Colin Firth, something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time,” Helen joked during the star’s unveiling. “Sorry darling,” she told hubby Taylor Hackford. “I do love you very much, but, you know…” There are apparently no hard feelings, though, as evinced by this photo shot during the event:
Helen continued, “This is such, honestly, the most spectacular day for me. I’m so very, very proud to be henceforth walked upon, have fries dropped upon, maybe even be peed upon by feature generations of tourists, Angelenos, and their dogs. But please, please, no chewing gum.” That’s the way it’s done!
We’re also kind of in love with Dame Helen’s French blue ensemble—especially the silver lizard pin on her lapel! Here’s how to get the look:
