It always kills me to hear women say they don’t get along with other women. Huh? I want to say to them, “It is ridiculous to expect 51% of the U.S. population to similarly meet your bleak expectations.” After all, we are each so incredibly different. So, my condolences to them that they decided to write off half of the species. You will never know the sheer pleasure of dishing with the girls. I can remember sitting through more than one horrible date like a masochist for the simple pleasure of being able to rehash the gore with the girls later. Who doesn’t want the full story of a dating train wreck? And when one of my girls starts in on a good tale of work place foibles or romantic expeditions gone awry it’s like manna to bond over. I settle in and reach for the popcorn and wait for the story to unfold. It is so nice to know that we don’t experience all of this in a vacuum by ourselves; that other people go through similar things. Most of all, it’s great to have trusted confidants to laugh off the absurdities of everyday life. Where would we be without dishing it up?
Who is it that you love to dish with and what did you last serve up?
