Charlize Theron buzzed head

You guys! Charlize Theron buzzed her head! Why? And do you love it or do you hate it?

Every single time Charlize has been spotted out and about this past week, she’s been wearing a hat of some sort. Odd, no? Especially since she lives in LA, which tends to be rather warmer than average during the summer months? Apparently she stepped into a salon on June 6 and hasn’t been seen without headgear since then—because guess what? She cut off all her hair.

First things first: The why. A rep confirmed to People that the actress gave her locks the axe for her role as Furiosa in the next installment of the Mad Max series, Mad Max: Fury Road. Charlize costars alongside Tom Hardy and begins shooting the film next month in Africa. Mystery solved!

Second, of course: Hot or not? It’s a little difficult to get the full effect with the hat covering everything up, but from what we can see here, I kind of love it. Like Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman before her, Charlize has unfathomably gorgeous bone structure, which helps her pull the look off beautifully. And hey, just think how much time, energy, and product she’ll save not having to style her hair every morning!

And just for good measure, here’s a picture of Charlize with her newly-shorn locks and Baby Jackson in her arms. Awwww!
