Your Career Coach
How to Become a Coach
I have twenty years of “coaching experience” via my Navy career. I’ve helped so many so long for free and I’d like to turn my talent into income. How can I become “Master Certified”? What associations do you recommend I join? What other first steps should I consider?
– In The Navy
I’m so glad you recognize that you have a talent for coaching!
Now, even though you have “coaching experience” via your Navy service (thanks for serving, btw), in the current coaching marketplace you’ll need additional training and certification before you can start working with clients. Go to the International Coach Federation’s website and research training programs and credentialing requirements. Network with other coaches to determine the best program for you. And, the Master Certified Coach designation reflects hundreds of hours of client coaching, advanced training and other really hard stuff. But I imagine you can achieve it if you put your sights on it — that’s the Navy way, huh?
