How to Pick Up a Guy at a Super Bowl Party
It’s not as easy as you would think. Real men share with us the tips and tricks.
“Sports night: every female’s fantasy. A room full of captive heterosexual men all looking to be distracted during commercial breaks.”
Oh, Carrie Bradshaw, how right you are… except when it comes to the Super Bowl. It’s the most important game of the year, and sure, men love to watch it with some beers, food, and pretty ladies, which definitely works in our favor. But, make the mistake of talking during an important play or even (gasp!) a Bud Light commercial, and you’re chances of picking up a guy at a Super Bowl party are squashed.
In order to leave Sunday’s festivities with his phone number and your “cool girl” status intact, follow the advice of these real guys. They were nice enough to offer their pre-game day advice on what’s acceptable Super Bowl party behavior, and what’s definitely not.
(By the way, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers are playing this year. You need to know that.)
Tip 1: Don’t Distract Him
“Knowing a thing or two about football is always a plus, but she shouldn’t force me to take my attention off the game,” says Michael Y., 24, from Washington D.C. “If I’m at a Super Bowl party, I want to watch the Super Bowl. Save the serious talking for the halftime show, or at least commercials. You only need enough time to get my number or email, and then you can follow up from there. Demanding attention during the game, especially when a team is about to score, comes off as needy, and is the biggest turn-off she could present.”
