I Made My Skin Look Perfect Without Surgery, Part 3
My justification for spending time and money on looking better!
As I journeyed to my second Fraxel treatment, I thought about how fortunate I am to live in an era with so many options for quality skincare. Courtesy of modern medicine, aging gently in 2011 can be done with grace, dignity, and subtlety (unless you write for BettyConfidential!).
However, despite a dropping price point and rising return, I’ve noticed a stigma attached to choosing to not let nature take its course – or as Dolly Parton says in Steel Magnolias, “Time marches on and sooner or later you realize it is marchin’ across your face.” This epiphany usually begins when the fake i.d. is replaced with the real deal.
So … Doing bootcamp? Skipping dessert? Embracing the “healthy lifestyle” mantra? Why not correct conditions created in your misspent youth? And why not take advantage of all modern science has to offer in our quest to ease the path we take with Mother Nature? It’s not excessive vanity to be the best you can be! Like that glass of Veuve Clicquot, you deserve it!
My second Fraxel treatment was similar to the first, although the swelling was considerably less — this was noticed and commented upon by various co-workers and even my skeptical husband. His comment actually came out of the blue a few weeks after the treatment: We were sitting on the sofa at a friend’s house when he suddenly stated that yes, he actually saw results! (Remember, the results are gradual and subtle over time).
I had not seen my friend D. for a couple of months – a few weeks after my first Fraxel she came over to visit. When I opened the front door sans any makeup, all D. could say was “Wow!” for about five straight minutes!
People have noticed and I like it.
