It’s a Girl for Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky!
Thor had a baby—and it’s a girl! Congratulations to new parents Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky!
My goodness! Between the birth announcements and the first photos, does the celebrity baby news ever stop? Apparently not, because now we’ve got a new one to add to the list: The Avengers star Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, have welcomed a baby girl to the world. Congratulations to the happy family!
According to People, the new little wee one arrived on Friday, May 11. Chris and Elsa have been married since 2010; Elsa announced in January of this year that the couple would be expecting their first child in Hola! magazine. Unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish, so I’m relying on People’s translation here, but apparently she and Chris decided to keep the baby’s sex a surprise until birth. Cute, no? “Since it’s our first child,” the actress said, “we don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. Our only wish is that it’s healthy.” Awww!
Furthermore, Elsa told the Spanish-language mag, “I’m only going to speak to the baby in Spanish. I already told my husband, ‘Get ready fast with Spanish because, if not, you’re not going to be able to understand what we say.” Bilingual baby? Bring it on!
What’s that? You want to know the baby’s name? Silly me! How could I forget? You’ll love this one: It’s India Rose. About the choice, Chris told USA Today, “We love the country and we love the name.” Unusual, but (as I’ve frequently commented in the past) by no means as weird as some of the other celebrity baby names out there.
I’ve been trying REALLY hard not to make any “as the daughter of Thor…” jokes, but allow me just this one: Do you think India will be anything like this little girl when she’s a few years older?
Because that would be AWESOME.
Congratulations again to the happy new family!
