Just Splurge

The healing power of Fendi

-Mary Beth Sammons

Forget about shopping ‘til you’ve dropped. Turns out splurging can revive and replenish your soul, or at least rev up your wardrobe and your health. A new joint study by the business schools at Harvard and Columbia shows that splurging is good for you.

Yep, the health weapons of choice – Vuitton, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana – are the preventive medicine your doctor ordered. Consider them gifts to yourself that keep on giving. The study throws out the old thinking that indulging in overpriced must-haves in a shoppers’ paradise makes you feel good only in the short term. Instead, consider the long-term effects. Surprisingly, not splurging can give you pangs of regret later.

So, if you’re looking to get out of a slump, it’s time to hit the mall.
