Kyle and Kim Richards: Two Cool Beverly Hills Moms
Wow … who knew the uber-rich aunts of Paris Hilton could be so down-to-earth?
-Cathy Hale, MommyQ
I had no idea Paris Hilton was blessed with such cool aunts! It took a few episodes until I realized Kim Richards and Kyle Richards, of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, are actually Paris and Nicky Hilton’s aunties. Yes, Kim and Kyle are Kathy Hilton’s (Paris and Nicky’s mom) sisters. What a beautiful trio!
Prior to my “ah-ha” moment about the famous sisterhood, I was totally admiring how devoted Kyle is to her children. Although Kim has some confidence and relationship issues, she’s really enthralled by her kids too. Then I found out who they were and I was even more impressed. When you don’t have a gazillion dollars, I think you assume ridiculously wealthy moms might not have the same love for their children as normal moms. I know it sounds awful, but when you can afford multiple nannies, a chef, a trainer, your own personal island and new pair of custom Louboutins on a daily basis, I assume your priorities are a tad affected. I think this show, or at least some of it, is proving me wrong.
I’m not oblivious to the editing process. I know producers can make people seem more or less loving than they actually are. Some things just seem very real about reality television and I happen to think Kyle and Kim’s dedication to motherhood is one of those things. Kyle is a hands-on mom who doesn’t even want to take a romantic strip with her hubby unless she can bring the kids. Kim prefers to spend time with her kids over anyone else. They both genuinely love being moms. Hurray for that!
A few fun factoids about Kyle and Kim:
Kyle Richards Bio:
Kyle is the sassy, sexy and witty little sister, born in 1969. She has four daughters, Farrah (21), Alexia (14), Sophia (10) and Portia (2). Portia is such a little cutie-pie! Kyle was an actress just like her sister, Kim. Do you recognize Kyle from the hit television show ER? She appeared in 21 episodes from 1998-2006. She has also been in Little House on the Prairie, Love Boat, Fantasy Island and Beverly Hills, 90210. She also played the younger version of her sister’s character in Escape to Witch Mountain in 1975.
“A normal day for me is waking up at 6 o’clock in the morning. I wake up early so I can read the newspaper so I can have a little time to myself, because I have very little time to myself being a mom of four kids.”
Kim Richards Bio:
Kim is the middle sister, born in 1964. She also has four children, Brooke (24), Whitney (20), Chad (19), and Kimberly (15). Kim was in lots of television shows and movies and is the most accomplished actress in the family. She signed with Disney Studios when she was 10-years-old. Her show and movies include: Escape to Witch Mountain, No Deposit, No Return and Return to Witch Mountain, Black Snake Moan, Tuff Turf, Meatballs Part II, Diff’rent Strokes, Little House on the Prairie, CHiPs, Magnum, P.I., The Dukes of Hazzard, and The Rockford Files.
“Although, I enjoy every moment I share with all my kids, I really do love my alone time with Kimberly. She’s my youngest, and I cherish the moments we share. She is such an old soul and I love how straightforward she is. I really admire that about her.”
Anyway, are you blown away by the fact that the shows that seemed like it could be the fakest of them all is actually showcasing moms we can be proud of?
