Lauren Conrad’s Hair Takes HOW Long to Style?!
Lauren Conrad revealed how long she usually spends at the salon getting her hair done—and it’s a doozy
It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest fan of reality TV. I mostly address my quibbles with it through the lens of Jersey Shore, which is arguably the most high-profile of today’s reality shows; the issues that come up in discussions about Jersey Shore, however, are applicable to just about every reality show ever: Namely, what good is fame for fame’s sake?
That said, though, Lauren Conrad is kind of an interesting case. She first burst onto the scene in Laguna Beach before landing her own spinoff, The Hills; but unlike her fellow cast mates (cough, cough, Heidi Montag, cough, cough), she’s managed to make a name for herself outside of the reality TV world. With two clothing lines, a beauty book, and a novel series under her belt, she’s been a pretty busy gal. I may still not particularly like reality TV, but I can appreciate what Lauren has managed to accomplish.
I do, however, still do a spit take when I hear things like this. Lauren recently sat down with StyleCaster to chat about her empire, her personal style, and more. When asked to name a few of her favorite local hangouts, she replied:
“I love my salon. My hairstylist Kristin Ess opened up her own little studio. It’s fun. She’s fantastic, is a close friend, and is thankfully very flexible with my schedule. I’ll be working all week, and I’ll come in at like 7 at night. My hair takes seven hours, so sometimes we’ll order take out and drink champagne. We also like to fool around a bit, so it probably takes a lot longer than it should!”
Wait, what? It takes SEVEN HOURS for Lauren to get her hair done?! Naturally, she was asked to clarify exactly why this is the case, to which she answered, “Well, I usually wear extensions!”
Ah, okay. That… sort of explains it. I’ve never used them, but from what I understand, hair extensions are a pretty elaborate undertaking. But it still kind of makes me go, “whaaaa?”, and here’s why: Unless you have SEVERELY thin hair or other, medical-type issues, I don’t understand the point of having extensions in the first place. What on earth is wrong with Lauren’s (or any other star’s, for that matter) natural hair that requires extensions to look good? Am I the only one baffled by this beauty trend that refuses to die?
Also, I can’t even IMAGINE going to a salon for SEVEN HOURS to get your hair done unless it’s for an extremely special event or something. That’s almost a full workday. Who the heck has that kind of time? But then again, I’m not anywhere near Lauren’s tax bracket, so maybe it’s just a mindset that comes with the territory. Ah well.
Tell us: Would you spend seven hours getting your hair done?
