Your Poetry

Letter To Sylvia Plath

By: Courtney Beardsworth

dear Sylvia

as I drove to New Jersey,

I could hear your voice on the interstate.

we all agree – it haunts us.

maybe it’s this uneasy feeling

knowing that as I hear your voice,

your bones lie in a grave.

stop crying.

I would have listened

if you spoke to me.

you looked for meaning in bees

and fraternal figures.

no wonder you never found inner peace

(for that, I am sorry).

is the moon really your rival?

indeed you two are similar –

something that no one will ever know

what is truly inside.
