TV personality, entertainment reporter, model, fashion journalist– Louise Roe does it all! This British-born beauty, who currently resides in LA, took the world on by storm with her makeover show Plain Jane, which aired on the CW. She’s hosted such shows as E!’s Fashion Police and Perfect Catch, she’s been a guest judge on Britain’s Next Top Model and Project Catwalk—and now she’s stepping into the design world herself!

This fall, Louise launched her own fashion collection exclusively for HSN. With a fun ‘70s flare, her collection combines versatility with cuts that flatter all shapes and sizes; don’t miss her signature “Louise” dress, which E! featured during the network’s complete coverage of April’s Royal Wedding.

Louise sat down with us during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to talk about her HSN collection, her fashion inspiration, and more!

You studied English Literature at university. How did you end up in entertainment reporting?

I always wanted to write for magazines- my dad did the same thing and he advised me to study English Lit and do as much work experience during the school holidays as possible. When I graduated, I became an intern at Elle UK, and it all built up from there.

What’s your favorite event that you’ve covered on the job?

Probably a party Roberto Cavalli threw in Rome. It was a La Dolce Vita, Federico Fellini theme and gave new meaning to the word “opulence!”

How did you make the jump from entertainment reporting to fashion? Is fashion something you’ve always dreamed about?

Yes! I’ve always loved fashion. To combine that with writing is a dream come true.

Your makeover show, Plain Jane, set itself apart with its “face your fears” approach to makeovers. How did the show come about?

One of the first meetings I had once I moved to LA was with the producers. We got on like a house on fire. They told me about the show and I was like, “Sold! I need to be a part of this!”

I love the draping folds and delicate touches of your HSN line! What inspired you to design your own collection, and where did the fashion inspiration come from?

Thank you! It was a mix between the 1970’s, old Polaroids of my mum, and wanting to create pieces to flatter all body shapes. Curves are GOOD…we need to celebrate boobies and bottoms. So I made clothes that did that.
