Thursday’s luncheon at the London Hotel in NYC had me very skeptical. I was there to meet the beautiful Claire Danes to discuss the first ever FDA-approved eyelash-lengthening product, Latisse.

Rumors of iris-discoloration and sudden darkness under the eyes had me wondering why Claire would agree to the possibility of a frightening outcome just to attain some lengthier lashes.

Then she entered the room, batting those big eyes and I started to cave into the idea a bit. Actually her lashes arrived five minutes before she did.

Said Claire of her new stint as Latisse spokes model: “I’d become aware of the product and was curious so I met my doctor. And it has been amazing! It happens in stages so I had to be patient. Then they started to become fuller and darker. I was amazed.”

Claire said she did experience some redness around her eyes at first but it quickly faded and now she couldn’t be happier. “It looks like I’m wearing make-up first thing in the morning,” she said.

Even her husband, Hugh Dancy, who she claims prefers her look most when she’s dressed down, sans make-up enjoys her new mile-long eyelashes. “He likes them a lot,” she added. “Butterfly kisses are better.”

Claire makes a convincing case. Will eyelash lengthening be the newest fad in beauty? Only time will tell.

  1. no, I would not – my lashes are pretty long on their own, and using L’Oreal Voluminous mascara in black makes them look great – not ever clumpy or smudged – I just don’t want to risk any kind of eye issue so no –
