The weather in Los Angeles has a funny knack for turning from its trademark sunshine to cloudy and blah when the weekend of a big star-studded awards ceremony is on the horizon – gee thanks, Mother Nature! But no amount of grey skies on Friday September 20th could stop the party from getting started as the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills readied itself to welcome press and celebrities alike in honor of the 2013 Primetime Emmys with the HBO Luxury Lounge.
I’ve been super lucky to attend a few of these lounge events in the past, so heading back felt a little bit like revisiting a well-known and loved college campus again. (Except my university didn’t have stars like Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter, Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones, and 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan making casual appearances in elevators or hanging out in the lobby … but that’s the beauty of celeb elbow rubbing in Hollywood for ya!) Come and hang out with your unofficial Betty tour guide at the HBO Luxury Lounge for an afternoon filled with fab gifts, gorgeous Marc Jacobs Beauty, and an unexpected bevy of jellybeans from Motorola!
The afternoon got started with a round of visits to tables set up in the Burton Room. First up on deck was a table decked out with flirty and fab sunglasses from Solstice. Even though the weather was doom and gloom outside, the sunnies were inside! I followed my nose to the table with dozens of tiny bottles containing the crisp scent of Endarme Fragrances next and my eyes caught sight of some serious eye candy, courtesy of Logitech’s colorful tablet accessories. Strollers and car seats for even the tiniest celeb tot were next on deck from UPPAbaby, and Brokn Legend and Lazypants carried hats and sweatpants for the ultimate in comfy and cozy post Emmys Sunday. And speaking of comfort, The Spa at the Four Seasons was also in attendance, as the destination of choice for stars to get a massage or facial at the morning after. Looking at those plush, white towels on display, it’s impossible to imagine anyone skipping out on that!
Next up was the Motorola lounge in a separate room that was sleek and white with pops of color all over the place. Here was where the Moto X magic happens – the ability to design and customize every last detail on your phone, making it completely one of a kind. Off to the side of the room was a candy bar – which I assumed was a reference to the candy bright colors of the phones all lined up in a row until you looked down and saw a great big pile of jellybeans under each phone ready for the scooping! Sweet!
Snacks and a few gift bags in hand (I think I need a swag bag Sherpa!), the Pandora lounge was next — and by far one of my favorites of the day. Two columns filled with ribbon tied boxes flanked a glass case filled with jewelry and guests were encouraged to pull out a box from one of the columns and read what the card inside said for a gift. My card read “necklace” which was the easy part. The hard part was choosing on what necklace to pick to take with me – there were so many pretty choices! I finally settled on a lovely heart-shaped locket. It was like being a contestant on the “Price is Right” only without having to guess the exact price of a box of popcorn correctly!
