Michelle Obama’s Election Night Style: Recycled Gorgeousness!
Taking a page from Kate Middleton, last night Michelle Obama wore a Michael Kors dress she’s been photographed in before.
No matter who you voted for yesterday, we can all agree that Michelle Obama makes an incredibly stylish first lady — one we can relate to! Michelle Obama’s been known to hit the J.Crew website late at night, and has a closet full of things from Ann Taylor, White House|Black Market, and even Target! We also love that when she goes high-end, Michelle has a tendency to wear young emerging American designers (Jason Wu, for one) as well as established ones (Tracy Reese, Michael Kors for example).
Mrs. O dresses like most of us: easy separates often topped with a cardi accented with great accessories. And — unlike some public figures and celebrities — she isn’t afraid to be seen in the same dress or outfit more than once! In a lot of respects, Michelle’s just like Kate Middleton: If she loves something, we’ll definitely see it more than once.
Last night when President Obama gave his victory speech, he of course mentioned his wife, Michelle: “Let me say this publicly. Michelle, I have never loved you more. I have never been prouder to watch the rest of America fall in love with you too as our nation’s first lady.” Aw!
Last night was a case in point. Mrs. O wore a magenta silk pintucked dress by Michael Kors, paired with a black shrug and jewelry from House of Lavande. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen her in this bright dress; she wore it in 2009 and in 2010. And why not? It’s cut beautifully, looks great on her, and it’s that modern classic item that women would go to again and again when they know they need to look great. For all we know Michelle may think of it as her “lucky dress.”
We can’t wait to see what other fab things she’ll pull out of her closet during the next four years!
