Finding an affordable and central place seemed near impossible. I tend to watch online deals for hotels, flights and vacation packages like a hawk, searching through multiple discount sites to find the best deals possible. Thankfully by using FlipKey®, I didn’t have to put in hours of searching multiple sites for the perfect accommodation.
FlipKey® offers unlimited possibilities when searching, allowing the guest to filter their search by location, amenities, rental type, accessibility, and even specific rental management. I knew I wanted to stay in a very central area. By using their map view, I was able to see all of the properties that matched my filters and their distance to attractions and nearest tube lines. Since I am a young and traveling alone, I found the property reviews to be very useful. The review goes beyond the rental itself, but review the area and property manager as well. FlipKey® has more than just property listings; I found their Trip Ideas tab helpful when searching for attractions and things to do in London.
The apartment I booked for my first four nights couldn’t have been more perfect! Centrally based in Soho, I was within walking distance to some of the greatest restaurants and attractions in London such as, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, St. James Park, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, The National Portrait Gallery, Piccadilly Circus, the Thames River, and more.
In order to get the full “London effect,” I took a vintage red bus tour, which took me throughout the city providing amazing views and admission to many attractions. This is a great thing to do when you are by yourself because you meet other travelers from all areas of the world. Also, it is a great way to see a lot in a short amount of time!
Dating back to William Shakespeare days and the history behind the Old Globe Theater, theater is still very alive in London. There are tons of Broadway and alternative shows available to see. And better yet, you can even get discounted, last minute tickets straight from the box office. This is what I did during one evening when I purchased last minute tickets to Mamma Mia. The seats were pretty good and singing was phenomenal!
My last two nights in London I checked into the Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes London, which was close to many other sights I wanted to see such as, the Marble Arch, Regent’s Park and Oxford Street. Wherever I travel, the beautiful parks and gardens are always on the top of my “to see” list. Regent Park couldn’t have been closer! It was a 2 minute walk from the hotel and in close distance to adorable shops and delicious restaurants. The rose gardens at Regent’s Park is a just see, and one of my favorite sights from the trip.
Upon arrival, the Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes staff makes you feel extremely welcomed by personalizing the room with reading material, a welcome note and even artisan chocolates! The rooms are fully equipped with everything you could ever need, hairdryers, comfortable beds, movies on demand, WiFi, convenient toiletries and more. Every day the Sherlock Bar & Grill serves a traditional English breakfast, which was fantastic for my early flight back to the states. I truly felt pampered and relaxed during the entire stay.
