Yes, you read that correctly
“Ooooh, baby, yesssss!”
That phrase is going to be forever ruined after you watch a clip from the new documentary, Orgasmic Birth.
If the title alone isn’t enough to gross you out, all the moaning (and it’s the good kind of moaning) as a woman pushes an infant through her vagina is enough to make you never want to have a baby – or an orgasm – again.
According to the film’s website, the levels of the hormone Oxytocin skyrocket during birth and labor, “bringing on sensations and behaviors that are sexual and may become orgasmic.”
“In addition, there is tremendous sensation in the vagina with birth, much engorgement of the tissues of the labia and clitoris with intense pressure from the baby’s head.”
I prefer not to curse via acronym unless it’s absolutely necessary, but OMFG!! Did they just compare a newborn’s head to a vibrator?!
As Jezebel points out, there are lots of legit doctors linked to the project, including Dr. Christiane Northrup of Oprahland and Dr. Marsden Watner, a former director from the World Health Organization.
The film is also getting a big debut on ABC’s “20/20” this spring, along with screenings in several countries this summer.
The creators of the documentary correctly observe that birth in our country is viewed as an “emergency waiting to happen.” And I’m completely down with birth being a positive, private experience for mothers. But does it have to be sexualized as well?
I mean we’re already spending our tax stimulus checks on, um, stimulating ourselves.
Does having a baby have to get all porno-perfect as well?
Maybe I’m just an old-fashioned birthing prude. Maybe other women like to push it, push it real good while they’re pushing out a baby. Maybe lots of ladies would prefer to come as their baby comes.
