What’s So Great About Yoga?
Dear Jessica: I have always found yoga to be simultaneously boring and effortful, but I just hear so much about how wonderful it is, and I see how great some women who are really devoted to it look and feel. What is your take on this?
Jessica: So you feel like you’re stuck in Boredomasana while everyone else is whoopin’ it up in Dazzleasana, huh? While Yoga may not be “ringing your bell” at this time, perhaps I can give you an inspiring perspective to approach it with.
For me, Yoga = empowerment. I feel EMPOWERED on the mat. I feel connected: to my own body . . . to like-minded seekers . . . to my capitol “S” Self . . . to the Divine that resides in us all. Feeling my muscles stretching and bringing the life-giving prana (breath) deeply into my being in a conscious matter makes me feel like I can approach the rest of my day in an empowered manner. Breathe that word in for a moment . . . EMPOWERMENT . . . exhale and smile.
