Rob Lowe Is a Busy Guy!
He’s writing his memoirs—and pitching a reality show.
How juicy is Rob Lowe’s forthcoming memoir going to be? It’s called Stories I Only Tell My Friends.
Until now, we hope.
Lowe (who still looks really, really good) was a Brat Pack mainstay in the 1980s, along with Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy and Molly Ringwald. And then a sex-tape incident undid him, at least for a while. When he was attending the 1988 Democratic National Convention in Atlanta, trying to be all serious about politics, Lowe had a homemade tape made of himself and two girls, one of whom was underage. We can’t wait to hear the story behind that. (Plus details on the out-of-court settlement, please!)
And then, years later, there were the nannies’ sexual-assault and harassment charges, which were dismissed, but not until after an exhausting legal battle.
Besides those incidents, the star of St. Elmo’s Fire and The Outsiders also promises to talk about his time in the crazy era of 1970s California, and his rehabilitation from alcohol abuse and sex addiction.
Lowe, who’s mocked his own addictions on Saturday Night Live, eventually rebounded and won roles on The West Wing Brothers & Sisters, and Parks and Recreation.
The book will be published in mid-2011, and Lowe swears he’ll write every single word himself.
In the meantime, he’s pitching a reality show about Washington, D.C. to several networks. Tentatively called Potomac Fever, it would follow the lives of young professionals trying to climb the political ladder. Lowe told Variety, an entertainment-industry publication, that he has “an affinity for the adventures of young Washingtonians.”
