Robert Pattinson Has Some Strong Feelings Towards His ‘Breaking Dawn’ Wig
‘Twilight’ star Robert Pattinson shed some light on his complicated ‘Breaking Dawn’ relationship—with his wig!
As you may know (or maybe you don’t—well, if you don’t, here you go), San Diego Comic-Con, affectionately known as SDCC, was held last week in California. A ginormous gathering of all things and people nerdy, it’s one of the biggest events of its kind—even bigger than our very own beloved New York Comic-Con (alas, we can’t all live on the West Coast!). But it’s not just for the Trekkies and the Marvel fans and all the rest; everyone has a place there—even the Twilight fans.
Naturally, the big draw for the Twi-hards this year was the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 panel. The lucky Edward, Jacob, and Bella groupies who managed to snag a seat for this much sought-after panel were treated, of course, to a sneak peek of the film—as well as to some unexpected revelations.
Consider Robert “Edward Cullen” Pattinson’s unexpectedly strong feelings towards his wig for the movie. Wait, what? Wig? Yep! While it’s true that Rob used his own, rather distinctive hair for most of the Twilight movies, when it came time to do the reshoots for Breaking Dawn – Part 2, he’d already chopped most of it off. The solution? The wig. Oh, the wig.
“We had to do reshoots a few weeks ago,” Rob revealed in the Breaking Dawn panel, “and it ws the first time I had to wear a wig. I couldn’t believe my last two days on Twilight, they put this orange wig on my hair.” He went on the describe the wig as “like Frankenstein’s monster” in that it was “an amalgamation of six wigs”—and no, he didn’t like it.
Of course an audience member asked him during the panel if there was anything he would warn his younger self about if he could go back in time to before his insane Twilight fame. He responded, “Don’t succumb to peer pressure and start wearing a wig like everybody else in this cast.”
Well played, Robert Pattinson. Well played.
