Shoe Road Test: The Feel-Good, Earth-Connecting Wonder of Pluggz Flip-Flops
Capture that amazing feeling you get walking barefoot through the grass with Pluggz flip-flops!
You know that really awesome feeling you get when you walk barefoot through the grass or slide your toes through the sand? That “one with the Earth, totally at peace with everything” feeling? Don’t you wish you could get that same feeling even when you’re not totally barefoot? Well, thanks to LiSTEN Brands’ new Pluggz flip-flops ($39, pluggz.com), you can!
Pluggz believe firmly in the idea that walking barefoot on the ground—that is, being grounded—enables our bodies to absorb the energy of the earth in the form of electrons. Simply put? Being grounded makes us feel good. So, in order to harness the power of being grounded, each pair of Pluggz has a custom carbon and rubber plug in the sole that acts as a sort of conduit for electrons to flow into our bodies. They’ve also got arch support, which most flip-flops don’t have.
And you know what? Even if you don’t subscribe to the theory behind Pluggz, I’ve got news for you: These are—without a doubt—the most comfortable pair of flip-flops into which I have ever slipped my dainty little feet. After a pretty silver pair of them landed in our mailbox, I spent an entire day walking around New York in them—something which I never do, because my back always ends up killing me at the end of it due to the lack of arch support—and I swear, it’s like I was wearing my favorite pair of running shoes. Not only that, but I never felt like I was in danger of walking out of them: They stayed firmly on my feet the entire time, all the while making that satisfying noise for which the flip-flop is named.
Pluggz are available in both men’s and women’s styles and sizes, and they come brown and graphite for the men and gold, silver, and black for the women. Word on the street that come fall, Pluggz will also have a line of ballet flats ripe for the picking, so be sure to stay tuned for that exciting development.
In the meantime, I’m going to go put my pluggz on and pretend I’m running around in the grass. Happy summer, Bettys!
